Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Mayoral Campaign Identity

Occasionally and fondly dubbed “King in the North” Andy Burnham became Mayor of Greater Manchester in 2017. We’ve been helping his comms team develop new ways to talk.

Britain has long held too many of its powers in London. As part of the move to decentralise the UK, Westminster agreed that Greater Manchester should be able to take greater control of its ten boroughs, so long as it appointed a mayor. Skip to Andy’s reign and we have an exciting new era to begin.

So how to inform the public? Although Greater Manchester Combined Authority (the GMCA) already had a smart visual identity, it didn’t have the warmth needed to talk to the public about issues that matter to them. Lovers were engaged to put together a new bank of visual explainers and assets that could be used to benchmark a new wave of public engagement.
